#GirlPower: RULES ON “HOW TO BE A LADY”?! F*CK THE RULES  || I have no idea of how I got to see some of the Rules I am going to mention. Maybe it was in one of those days that you watch Youtube to see a sweet kitty playing with a stuffed bear, and after a while you are just watching nonsense. Yes, I have days like this.

So, “How to be a Lady” appeared somewhere on my newsfeed, and what a treat it was. I would like to analyze some of these “rules” with you, if you don’t mind. Hold on to your chair, “it’s going to be a bumpy ride” (this one is for you, Potter Heads!)

1. “The Lady should dress modestly.”

When in doubt dress whatever you want. Baggy pants and a sweat shirt, cocktail dress, jeans and t-shirt, etc, etc, etc, … Modesty is for people that want to be modest. And that is fine. But a Lady is not just modest. A Lady is also loud and intense, a warrior, a diva, a trend setter, or not.

2. “Do not have multiple partners.”

If you do not want to have f *** buddies go ahead and be happy! But if you do, please enjoy every moment of it. Being a Lady is not defined by the amount of partners and sex that you have. Our society tends to shame individuals that have a colorful sex life, making them feel worthless. Your value is something that is not up for grabs by society. Only you have the right to define your worth. Do not forget to have fun but also be safe.

3. “Do not discuss religion or politics at the dinner table.”

By all means do. Tell me what you think, express yourself. About religion, politics, sports, fashion, feminism, glamor, nature, … Give your opinion, and do not be apologetic about it. For centuries we’ve been told to listen, shut up, and just breathe. Now is the time to make your voice heard, we need your involvement in major issues that are populated by the same gender, race and sexual orientation. Raise up and make a difference.

4. “When in Rome, do the Romans.”

When in Rome, Paris, New York, Athens, … be Yourself! Just be who you are. You do not have to act a certain way to be a Lady. Your uniqueness, your originality, your heart, makes you the amazing Lady you are. Let loose, relax, seize every chance you get to express your inner self. That is a beautiful thing to see.

5. “If someone smiles at you; smile back.”

“Be sweet, innocent, and just smile”. Nope! Smile, if that smile comes from the inside with the power and force of someone who really wants to do it. But do not smile just because somebody tells you that it is the right thing to do. The smile itself is a great way to make your day brighter, but if you are having one of those days that not punching a wall is a victory, please, let your face reflect what you feel. Do not deny yourself the power of being real.

6. “Do not get plastic surgery.”

No, once again! Plastic surgery is here, and it is available. So if that makes you happy, go for it. It is always wise and less expensive to love yourself the way you are, but it is judgmental to assume that people of plastic surgery are self-haters, spoiled, or grasping for youth like it is the only goal in life. People do plastic surgery for several reasons, so it’s important to you, be free.

There are many more. But who can absorb it all ?! I can not.
Be the Lady, do not be a Lady!
Janis Joplin said: “Do not compromise yourself. You are all you’ve got.”
Explore your inner self and let it shine like the rising star that you are.

Do not compromise… Ever…
